VIRTUAL SEMINARS

In the spring of 2014, the Public Education Foundation of Chattanooga began an endeavor that was new and innovative. Instead of asking the world how to fix some of the problems in education, they went to the source; they took time to ask people who work with kids on a daily basis and who have degrees to educate young people what can be done to make classrooms better? Thus, Teacherpreneur, a contest amongst educators, was created!

For two and a half months, teachers from the Chattanooga area created pitches similar to business proposal, but, more importantly, we became a part of a network of teachers who have a passion to make education better. We were committed to doing something about the problems in our classrooms. In August 2015, we pitched our ideas and 15 of us became a part of the Teacherpreneur Class of 2015.

I was one of the 15 teachers chosen to receive funding to make my innovation project before a reality.  Virtual Seminars were created to give my intercity/urban kids a wide audience to discuss controversial topics with. The year was challenging, but my project is a work in progress! I hope that this portion of my site will help me chronicle the challenges and triumphs of this ongoing experience.
